The Portuguese Economic Journal welcomes submissions to its collection “Selected papers on the Portuguese Economy” edited by Rui Albuquerque (Carroll School of Management, Boston College). The deadline is 31 January 2026, the submission guidelines are available here, and manuscripts can be submitted here.

The Bank of Portugal in collaboration with the Fundação Manuel dos Santos organizes every two years a competition to select the best masters theses written on the Portuguese Economy from across all higher education institutions in Portugal.
At the _9.ª Conferência Desenvolvimento económico português no espaço europeu _16 theses were presented. The thesis “Estimating Gender Differences in the Probability of Unemployment: Evidence From Portugal” by Joana Passinhas from ISEG won the 2018 Prémio José da Silva Lopes, awarded by the Bank of Portugal to the best thesis.

The Portuguese Economic Journal is launching a call for papers for a special issue on** Economic Policy in Portugal: Competition, Innovation, and Competitiveness and Internationalisation.** Submissions are welcome from 16 to 30 September 2017. Papers accepted for publication will be awarded a Eur. 3,000 prize sponsored by Gabinete de Estratégia e Estudos of the Portuguese Ministry of Economy.
